How we verify our guides
PaperTrails publishes step-by-step guides for Indian government processes. Here is how we make sure they are accurate and useful.
Primary sources only
Every guide is written directly from official government portals — the same websites you would use to complete the process yourself. We do not summarise other third-party guides or news articles. If the official portal changes its process, we update our guide to match.
What “Last verified” means
Each guide displays a Last verified date. This is the most recent date on which we manually checked the guide against the live official portal — confirming that the steps, documents, URLs, and requirements shown are still current. It is not the date the guide was first published.
What we check during verification
- Each step is walkable on the live portal without errors
- Document requirements match what the portal currently lists
- Official portal URLs are live and resolve correctly
- Any portal UI changes are reflected in the guide steps
- Eligibility criteria match the current rules
What we do not include
We intentionally leave out fees and processing times. Official figures are frequently outdated, vary by state or applicant type, and can change without notice. Quoting them would mislead users. Always check the official portal for the current fee at the time of your application.
How to report an issue
Government portals change frequently. If you spot something in a guide that is outdated, incorrect, or unclear, please let us know. We read every submission and update guides promptly.
