The PVC Aadhaar card is UIDAI's polycarbonate version of your Aadhaar — same data as the old paper card, but with security features (hologram, micro-text, ghost image, QR code) and a more durable build. UIDAI charges a fixed fee per card and dispatches by India Post.

Your registered address on Aadhaar is the delivery address. If you've moved, update the address before placing the order — otherwise the card lands at the old address.

If you don't have a registered mobile, UIDAI provides a fallback that lets you verify with a one-time OTP on an alternate mobile, so you're not locked out of ordering.

Eligibility

  • You hold an Aadhaar.
  • Either your registered mobile is active for OTP, or you can use a non-registered mobile via the 'Order with Non-Registered Mobile' option.

Required documents

  • Aadhaar / VID / Enrolment ID

Any one of: 12-digit Aadhaar, 16-digit Virtual ID (VID), or 28-digit Enrolment ID (EID).

  • Mobile number

Aadhaar-linked or alternate (a fallback flow exists for non-registered mobiles).

    Pay the order fee

Pay via UPI, net banking, debit / credit card.

You'll receive a Service Request Number (SRN). The PVC card is dispatched by India Post — track with the SRN on myAadhaar.

Common mistakes

  • Ordering a PVC card when your registered address on Aadhaar is outdated — the card will be delivered to the old address. Update [Aadhaar address](/identity/update-aadhaar-address) first.
  • Treating the PVC card as 'better' than e-Aadhaar — both are legally equivalent. The PVC has security features, but is not required.
  • Paying lookalike non-UIDAI sites that charge inflated fees for the same service.
  • Misreading the SRN — save the order receipt with the exact SRN.

Frequently asked questions

Is the PVC Aadhaar card different from the printed Aadhaar I got at enrolment?

Yes. PVC is a polycarbonate card with security features (hologram, ghost image, QR code), more durable than the older paper-laminate format.

How long does delivery take?

Typically a few working days to a couple of weeks, depending on India Post delivery to your address.

Can I order multiple PVC cards for family?

Yes — order one per Aadhaar number. Each requires the respective Aadhaar holder's OTP.

Will my old paper Aadhaar still be accepted?

Yes. The old format remains valid for KYC. The PVC is a convenience upgrade, not a replacement.
